MARCH FORTH 35: This is our kickoff event to the rallye season every year. Chicago area's longest running rallye by the same rallyemaster, Diane Rosone. April 12

WHOOSH WITCH XLI: The longest-running Halloween rallye in Chicagoland. Rallyemastered by Bill Wallace. 4 hours of Sunday daylight (vs 3 hours of Saturday darkness) make this gimmick rallye the funnest of the year in many ways, and it's about the only rallye you'd enjoy bringing your kids along on. Expect a longer drive through gorgeous autumn countryside that you can actually see. This year's event is more thematic than recent years, with multiple remote-controlled creatures and intense Halloween decorations at checkpoints. You'll be issued your own magic wand to cast spells, and expect some of the witches and wizards (and villains and treats) from Harry Potter to make an appearance. And we encourage you to wear costumes, with trophies for the best adult and best child costumes. October 26
UnRALLYE 45 A point-to-point rallye (not a gimmick rallye), rallyemastered by Bill Wallace. You make your own course, rather than following ours. Instead of Route Instructions, you get a list of questions and a map with spots marked on it. One question can be answered at each spot on the map. There are too many to visit them all in the 3 hours you're given, so it's up to you to develop a strategy for visiting as many as you can, in whatever order you decide. Guessing at answers is dangerous, because wrong answers count more against you than blanks. And coming in late triggers heavy penalties (1 mistake for every 2 minutes versus the 10 minutes counted for gimmick rallyes). Since speed and driving skill do figure heavily into your success, this comes closer to being a "race" than any other rallye on the CRC calendar. And bad weather only makes it more fun!
